PrintFactory 2026.2.0 - What's new

PF 2026.2.0 is a broad productivity and platform release. It expands workflow automation, strengthens calibration and color-management tools, modernizes RIP monitoring, improves everyday Editor and Layout work, and adds support for more output devices. It also removes several legacy components that customers should review before upgrading.

Main highlights

Workflow automation

  • Enfocus Switch connector. Workflow API support has been extended so Switch integrations can discover flow keywords and inject multiple documents into a single job.
  • AI Upscale component. Workflow can upscale and improve images using selectable models and settings before the job continues through production.
  • More processing options. A new Halftone Effect component brings the Editor effect into Workflow automation.
  • Better production control. The Printer output component can now assign Normal, Expedite, or Hold priority in both static and variable configurations.
  • Faster workflow building. Components can be duplicated for workflows that reuse similar processing blocks.
  • Workflow security: Workflow adds configuration-rights enforcement,
  • AI tooling. An AI MCP server for assisted workflow building, and a Fail route from Layout for recovery paths.

Calibration and color management

  • A clearer calibration wizard. A left-side contents view shows progress and allows navigation back to completed steps; sequential gamut-chart pages can advance automatically after valid measurements.
  • Resume unfinished calibration work. Calibrator keeps incomplete profile creation or recalibration sessions locally and shows them as resumable in-progress PMMs.
  • RGB spot-color support. Spot colors can be used with RGB reference profiles.
  • D65/10 support. D65 with the CIE 1964 10-degree observer is available in Edit Variant and Reference Wizard workflows. Generated ICC profiles also gain chromatic-adaptation tagging where the conversion is known.
  • Custom black targets inside PMM variants. Sublimation users can print and evaluate composite-black targets directly within the profile-variant workflow.
  • DTF white linearization. The DTF profiling wizard now includes white linearization.
  • Media compensation travels with the PMM. Compensation values are stored in the PMM rather than only in device-specific cache settings, improving backup, visibility, and supportability.

Editor, Layout, and preflight

  • Expanded preflight checks. Additional checks target empty layers, unnecessary groups, duplicate contours, and overly complex paths.
  • Configurable canvas color. Users can choose a display background that makes white, transparent, or very light artwork easier to see. This affects preview only, not printed output.
  • Apply Document Setup to all pages. Multipage Editor documents can receive the same setup change across every page instead of requiring page-by-page work.
  • Asset version history. Editor users can browse earlier DAM versions and open a selected revision.

RIP monitoring and operations

  • Faster processing. Utilizing larger memory and more CPUs allows to speed up processing significantly when enabled.
  • Rebuilt Web-based job list. The RIP-hosted browser view now supports device and text filtering, sorting, selectable columns, status colors, multi-selection, job actions, job information, and configurable refresh intervals.
  • Web-based Output Inspector. Output inspection is available through a RIP-hosted web interface.
  • Faster driver discovery. RIP startup after installation focuses discovery on devices actually in use and can use installed driver metadata instead of scanning everything.
  • Job status feedback. When jobs are waiting an info button clarifies the reason why the job is queued and not yet processed.
  • Dockable RIP log. The log can be positioned as a dockable pane alongside Preview and System Load information.

Device support

The PrintFactory 2026.2.0 release includes significant updates for printer and cutter drivers, focusing on expanded hardware support, connectivity reliability, and specialized workflow optimizations. Over 45 new drivers and as many updates and improvements.

New Driver Support

  • New Manufacturers: Added or advanced driver support for Skycut, RUNBO, and Mycut devices.
  • Epson SureColor SC-P7300 and SC-P9300 printer series.
  • Censi Cutter: Introduced support for Censi cutting hardware.
  • Kornit Atlas: Added “direct-to-folder” support, allowing the driver to bypass PrintAgent and retrieve data directly from disk for faster output.
  • Embedded Linux aarch64 RIP/MCU support for the Raspberry Pi, TI, NXP, Forlinx and other platforms.

Driver Updates & Enhancements

  • Canon Colorado: Introduced a new winding strategy parameter and added support for the XL media manager.
  • Kornit Atlas Max: Updated QPP (Quick Production Package) support for the Atlas Max series.
  • Broad Device Updates: Delivered resolution, ink-sets, SDK, EMX, and mode updates for Mimaki, Epson, EFI, Brother, Roland, Summa, HandTop, POLAROID, and Agfa devices.
  • Finishing Tools:
    • Restored default markers for Zund.
    • Improved orientation handling for Optiscout.
    • Corrected placement behavior for Fotoba.
    • Fixed white area sizing for Summa S Class cutters.

Critical Bug Fixes & Performance

  • Connectivity: Resolved USB and LAN connection issues across multiple hardware models.
  • Startup Speed: Optimized the driver discovery process to significantly reduce application startup time.
  • Synchronization: Fixed issues with mismatched inksets, incorrect media sizes, and synchronization errors in double-sided printing workflows.
  • White Ink Handling: Improved white choke performance and added “alpha-to-white” transfer and graded spread/choke controls to reduce halos and improve edge quality.

Additional capabilities

  • Remote RIP access. The Remote RIP UI extends browser-based access to RIP operations.
  • More flexible tiling and labels. Workflow supports variable unequal tile sizes; Layout and Workflow add shape-aware part labels and cut paths around job labels.
  • More cutter intelligence. iECHO iKNOW barcodes and Summa F-series left/right PostNet positioning are supported.
  • Community profile administration (Distributors only). Authorized users can bulk-promote PMMs to Community Profiles with eligibility and progress feedback.
  • Operational usability. RIP cleanup can retain a chosen number of completed jobs, XML and DTG dialogs handle smaller screens better, Layout provides a submission-settings summary, and application logs grow to 10 MB.
  • DTF output control. White can be knocked out beneath registration markers when using DTF white.

Important upgrade notes and warnings

  • macOS Apple Silicon (*1). Apple Silicon is not supported for HP, older Epson models and some others. If the RIP connected to those printers is running on an Apple Silicon powered computer then you can’t upgrade, unless you move the RIP/drivers to an Intel based computer like Windows.
  • TSN3 has been removed. TSN4 is now the only true-shape nesting engine. Review nesting presets and automation. Anything that explicitly selects TSN3 must be moved to TSN4 before production use.
  • Ortis CMS has been removed. VISU is now the only profiling engine in Calibrator. Review legacy profiling workflows. Sites that still rely on Ortis-specific behavior should validate their PMMs and procedures against VISU before upgrading production systems.
  • Core dependencies were modernized, including OpenSSL 3 and Qt 6.10.3.
  • Finish or reprocess critical held jobs. A development issue affected jobs ripped in 2026.1.1 and then printed after upgrading to 2026.2. Jira marks the issue fixed, but if a pre-upgrade job remains at 0 KB after the update, re-RIP it in 2026.2.
  • Regression-test custom integrations. The media-size API, TLS library, UI framework, hosted RIP interfaces, and profiling internals changed. Sites with custom scripts, plug-ins, or API integrations should run a representative test before full deployment.
  • Back up operational assets. Before upgrading, keep recoverable copies of PMMs, workflows, device settings, and any important queued or held jobs.
